John Shorter is Past President of the New York Theater Education Association (NYSTEA). For over twenty years, he was Secondary School Theater Arts Program Director and Curriculum Developer at Manhasset High School which was named a National School of Excellence. He has collaborated with leaders from the New York State Education Department establishing the New York State Standards for the Arts and the Content Area Specialty Test for Theater Arts Teacher Certification. He is also a grad for the certification test in Theater Arts.  Mr. Shorter received the Rod Marriott Lifetime Achievement Award from NYSTEA for his contributions to educational theater. Currently, John Shorter is the Manager of the Prop Rentals and Sales Division of Avancy Inc. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Theater Arts Department at Five Towns College.
